If I start crinkling Maggie's skin do you think she could pass as an over grown Pei, Dizz?

Grace :D
- By dizzy [gb] Date 28.05.03 18:33 UTC
youd have to put her ears in rollers too----all the best dressed pei have curly ears :D
- By graceb [gb] Date 28.05.03 19:11 UTC
don't think they do rollers big enough for maggie's ears :D She can wear them ina top knot you know, maybe I could put her in as a Yorkie....no wrong colour ;)

Do you lot think I should bother going to Leeds. I have entered, but as you will have seen in recent posts, my boy has decided to be a complete 'wimp' when it comes to the show ring!!! Do you think he will 'grow out of it' or do you think he just hates the attention???
- By Brainless [gb] Date 29.05.03 02:51 UTC
Did he enjoy any part ot the proceeedings, such as going around the show. Of he enjoyed that then he will grow used to the ring part and eventually relax. You will then find you have a dog screaming to get in the car on show days, like mine.

I don't drive and get lifts to shows. Now on a show day they are liike Wirling Dervishes watching out the windows for whoever is taking us. Normally I have lovely calm dogs when I open my front dooor to go for walks, but on show days I get dragged down the front path :D :D

Hi Brainless,
He is a bit of a wimp all the time at the moment. Over the past 6 weeks he has become quite shy in new surroundings or with new people. After the class on Monday he was happy to play with the other dogs and walk round the show. We got there in plenty of time (5.30am - miscalculated the distance!!!!!) so he had loads of time to look around the show ground before it got busy, but only really relaxed after his classes.
I wish he was a little more like yours!!

Hi Dotty,
My bitch Dolly completely lost her confidence at shows after we had a car accident on the way back from Blackpool last year, and would go to pieces as soon as we got into the hustle and bustle of the show.
I tried lots of things, including Skullcap and Valerian, Rescue remedy etc, with no luck, and stopped showing her, concentrating on obedience instead, to try and build up her confidence. Then I took her to a couple of shows without actually showing her, but she still got quite clingy and unsettled.
A friend suggested vitamin B12, and I managed to get some only 4 days before Bath. She was like a different dog, and really enjoyed her day out, with just a small wobbly when a lorry went by on the bumpy road behind the marquee, but she recovered her composure very quickly to get a 2nd in Limit!
Good luck with your boy, and I would certainly take him to Leeds, even if just for the experience. Try and make it fun for him, and try not to get too het up yourself- easier said than done, I know, when you think they're going to go to pieces any minute!!

Thanks Liz, I will definately try to get him some B12. I too have tried S&V and rescue remedy with no luck. We are at Southern Counties tomorrow, but then have a while before the next show so will get him on the B12. Thanks again.
