On a schedule for a companion show, there's 4 classes for Pedigree, but I haven't a clue what they mean
Class 1 Any variety Puppy ( this one's obvious )
Class 2 Any variety Sporting
Class 3 Any Variety Non-sporting
Class 4 Any variety open
I suppose what's confused me is the sporting and non-sporting, would someone kindly explain.

You can tell i'm a complete novice can't you:D

Hi,
Sporting are all breeds of the following groups; Gundogs, Hounds and Terriers
Non- Sporting are all breeds of these groups; Working, Pastoral, Utility and Toy. It really depends on which breed you have as to which class to enter.
It is a bit confusing at first but you will soon get the hang of it. I found the book called Dog Showing from beginners to winners (Robert Killick) really helpful, and another one called Showing Dogs (D. Cavill) is great too. Also I think the KC site has all the different definitions of classes. Good luck. :)

It's very difficult to think of dalmatians as being Non-Sporting! :(

Lol:) Especially when you live with 4 of the mad things :) :)

So what about the open one then?? Does that mean any breed??
Sorry about the questions:)

Yes, Open is any breed, any age (over six months) excluding CC, RCC and JW winners and bitches in season generally.

I would guess so. (I'm not very 'au fait' with Companion Shows - I hadn't even twigged they'd changed their name! :o )

:) Its sporting as in field sports, not sporty as in athletics.

So, ( although I can't because he's dog agressive ) Could I enter Bob (dobe) in the pedigree classes, although I have no papers  It does say doesn't have to be Kc, but I got confused when the classes said pedigree.

Think I might enter Kylie into prettiest bitch:D

This will be so obvious soon (hopefully:D)
