Hi
My 8 week cocker spaniel has a thing for paper, pebbles and plants. She chews the plants and spits them out, usually petals but this morning I think she actually swallowed a small pebble. She also chews paper and I think she swallows it . I puppy proofed the whole downstairs (I thought) but she managed to drag the throw from the sofa down far enough to reach a receipt that was on it and eat it, (happened to be the vets receipt). She eats her house training paper, she just goes mad for paper suddenly. Im more worried about the pebbles as theres quite alot in the garden and thats her toilet area, is it going to come out the other end or is it going to be stuck inside her? it was quite a small one but should I be worried? also the flowers, I dont know which are poisonous, Ive isolated her in the kitchen everytime she's done it and shes learnt not to eat mine (im worried about her, not the plants!) but when we go to my parents she starts on theirs which look alot more poisonous.

Hi Kaycee, My pup Sydney loved to chew on pebbles, plants, paper, flowers, cardboard whatever he could lay his teeth on. When we first got him he was a lot worse now he seems to be growing out of it (now 18 weeks). He has even eaten the stuffing out of his soft toys along with their little feet and ears. He is sometimes to fast for me to grab him and take it from him, he seems to have passed them through him without any drama. I wouldnt worry to much Im sure that it will pass through her as well. Seems most gardens have a lot of poisonous plants in them mine included (bulbs seem to be the worst) so I just monitored Sydney when he was in the yard, After a while of being squirted with a water pistol and lots of No NO he seems to have stoped chewing the plants (sigh now he just digs them up instead). Im sure that things will work out best of luck. And dont forget be ever vigilant and alert when they are in the yard.

Hi
I had a neighbour who had a staff who ate pebbles-she had to have him operated on twice to remove the stones and on the third time he was PTS.This is not a good habit-it can also wear/break teeth so I wouls stop him asap

Hi I have a English Bully and she eats the pebbles in our garden. Then she comes in and throws them all back up.Now what I do I have a old washing up liquid bottle full of water and every time she goes to get the pebbles I squirt her with it.She is slowly getting better.I think some breeds are more likly to do this than others.Try this or get a cardboard tube and shout no through it.

I hate to be a pessimist but my first ever puppy, a black cocker spaniel called Frodo, died at eight months old on the operating table after going in for an exploratory op and when they opened him up he was full of pebbles :( Please try to stop your puppy now, I'd hate for anyone else to go through what I did.

My bull terrier will eat everything and anything, even though i have him on a lead he is still too quick for me usually, we were up the local country park last week and he got hold of a dead rabbit which i could not prize from his mouth we had a good old wrestle, but there was only one winner, i am a bit worried incase of diseases etc.. and to be honest i never knew there were so many bannana skins left lying around.. :)
