Just wondering if any of you Mal owners out there can offer some advice on the amount and type of
exercise our 10 week old girl should be getting.
We introduced her to Aimee's Dads Springer Spaniel last week, they get on like a house on fire. They play chase, around the garden for at least a couple of hours. Just wondering if this is ok, as obviosly she is doing a lot of twisting and turning. All the books we've read, continually go on about
how, being a large breed, the Malamutes exercise should be limited to avoid any permament damage
to legs, hips etc, until about 9 months. We know about not letting her jump off anything 1ft or more. The most she has to negotiate are two 6 inch steps down onto our patio.
We would just like to know if we are ok to still let her play chase, as she really does love it.
So do we as it tires her out!!
thanks
Ian & Aimee

In my experience, it's nearly impossible to stop a puppy playing :) However, I would say that you are best suited to say when your pup has had enough, although a couple of hours rushing about does seem excessive for one so young. Perhaps "time out" would be a good idea when they've been chasing around for 20 minutes or so. Split them up and allow the puppy to calm down for a while - it may be happy for the break. I used to have spaniels, so I know how "full on" their play can be.
Joan :)
