Topic Dog Boards / Health / Advice - My Puppy has a Mast Cell Tumor!
- By Lisa Smith [gb] Date 28.05.03 15:27 UTC
I have just found out my 14 week old Staff has a Mast Cell Tumor on her side. Apparently it is very rare for a puppy to get this. At first the vets thought it was a bite so prescribed antibiotics. The lump reduced but didn't disappear so they carried out a biopsy which diagnosed a tumor. It is at a grade 1, intermediate level. Does anyone have any experience or information regarding this condition?

Hi Lisa

I don't know anything about it and saw nobody had replied so had a search and found this for you.

Hope this helps.

Hi Lucy

Thank you for finding that information page on the website. I found it very useful. As the vets discovered that the lump they thought was an allergic reation to a bite was actually a MST, Kacey is having a second operation to remove a wider area of skin. Hopefully like Delphi (the dog in the article) it hasn't spread. I will keep you posted. Thanks once again.
