when i got my Labrador she was registered with the kc. does this mean that she is show quality? also, does this mean that i can advertise all her puppies as show quality even though i dont know how they will turn out?

Do you show your bitch? Has she won classes or been placed at Open or Champ Shows? Has the stud dog you used won classes or been placed? Have any other puppies that he has sired won or been placed? I am assuming that you did all the health checks, that the hip scores of both parents are below 10, and that you made sure that both lines complemented the other. The breeder of your bitch, should be able to advise you if any of the puppies are show quality or not.

When you bought your bitch - was she advertised as show quality?

Hope this helps!

KC registration just means that both parents are registered with the Kennel club and that the dog has an available pedigree ( or a form of traceability)- it doesnt mean that you have a top quality dog unfortunately . KC registered dogs can also suffer from health problems and can be poor specimens of the breed :(

KC registered only means it is KC registered. A good working Labrador would be KC registered as well!

Show quality means nothing, after all there are poor quality dogs in the ring just as there are good quality.

The quality of a dog is how it fits to the breed standard of on its working ability and nothing to do with being KC registered. After all, lets face it, the KC have not seen your dog, it judgs nothing! If you show then the judge will have given his or her opinion but that all.

Hi guest,
If your bitch was KC registered, all it means is that both her parents were KC registered. It's no guarantee of quality.
Don't advertise her pups as being of show quality if you are not certain (and very few puppies are), or it will be against the Description of Goods Act and you could be taken to court if they aren't!
