HELP!
I HAVE A BLUE ROAN COCKER SPANIEL BITCH WHICH HAS BEEN BRED FROM MY CURRENT LITTER.SHE DOESN'T HAVE THE TRADITIONAL BLACK MASK, ONLY BLACK EARS ON HER HEAD THE REST IS TICKING. I FELL IN LOVE WITH HER LOOKS THE MOMENT SHE WAS BORN AND EVERYONE WHO SEES HER SAYS SHE'S GORGEOUS. I'D WELCOME SOME FEED BACK FROM ANYONE OUT THERE WITH BLUE ROAN COCKER SPANIELS.
THIS WILL BE THE FIRST TIME I'VE TRIED TO SHOW A DOG AND WOULD LIKE TO GET IT RIGHT FIRST TIME
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

There is no requirement for a black mask in a particoloured Cocker - all the standard says on colour is "various" :-) So in theory there is no such thing as a mismarked blue roan but in practice, many UK judges seem to dislike certain markings such as lack of black mask on a very light blue. However, most blue roans will darken in colour with age & I have seen quite a few darker blues without the mask in the show ring & can remember at least one Show Champion bitch with this type of face marking (or lack of it!) so it need not be a handicap, depending on how light your puppy is really.
