we have a 11 month old staffie and until recently he has been as good as gold, we have 3 kid's ( 3,4 and 12) and have had no problem at all. at about 7 months he was attacked by a german shepard but this didn't seem to affect him too much, but about a fortnight ago his ear was ripped by a rotti, this was bad as it was a guard dog for the shop and the owner lost control of it. He wasn't hurt very badly but it seem's that now, every time he see's another dog he is trying to get in first, even if the other dog is showing no sign's of aggresion at all, he was a very friendly dog, alway's wanting to play, but i just hope he is not turning aggresive because if so we won't be able to keep him which would break the kid's heart's and our's of course. If anyone can advise me of what to do then please let me know either on this message board or at www.staffie2003@yahoo.com thanks alot, Sean

Hi Sean
looks like you boy have gone of other dogs at the moment but i do think that you can change him as he is still quite young.
Staffords have a very long memary(spell?) so i dont think that he will every get on with a GSDor Rottie again, but i do think that he might get on with other dogs, what you need to do is try and find some very QUITET and friendly dogs, dogs that are very dog friendly dog that he can be around with no threat to him self, you want to prase him for being good with other dogs ie if you both see a dog on the other side of the road andhe does not make a fuss then prace him.
i must tell you that most Stafford dog do get dog aggreive by the time they are about 2/3 years old. you might of been better with a bitch as they can get on with other dog better (but it to late now)
my last male dog was very dog aggresive he loved bitches but not dog and he got on very well with my 2 (at the time) girls 3 + 6 so if you can not get him good with other dogs you might not have to get ride of him just watch him while out
