Topic Dog Boards / General / Lapsed Affix
- By EBull [gb] Date 24.05.03 19:25 UTC
After spending several hours of ponder down the M5 we finally came up with a potential affix for our Husky brood. However when checking with the Kennel Club we have found that while it is free, it had previously been used by another breeder. While we are still keen to use the Affix "Articstorm" is anyone familiar with the history of this affix. I would be a little reluctant to use it if it has only recently elapsed and associated with the same breed of dog. Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks

Elizabeth

it also looks like there may be some sibes in Australia with that affix but not sure as the link from guestbook to main site is broken but lots of Australians had signed it - again doesn't matter for here

Most importantly though take a look here
LKA 2002 had a winner with that affix in AV pastoral.
Another thing I found makes me think it was possible a Komodor breeder - are they Pastoral?

SaraW :)

The moral of the story should be to check out http://www.champdogs.co.uk/ first just in case shouldn't it lol.

Shows we're good detectives round here though :D :D

Thanks everyone I have now emailed the breeder concerned to find out whether the lapse was overlooked or whether she no longer is breeding. Funny though, I checked the Champdogs search function initially and nothing came up!

Its a good job I checked as I spoke to the breeder today and as I had expected it was an oversight on her part. I`m not the sort of person to steal someones affix so if anyone has some inspirational ideas for a husky affix step forward. Although we don`t plan on breeding yet, we would like an affix to use as a team name of when we race our huskies, embroider on the harnesses etc.

I`m off now to scan all the sci-fi, dungeons & dragons and forgotten realms books for some inspiration. We are looking for something coldish sounding (hence the artic bit) but with a little punch.

Artic quest is on the list already, the others will soon be added. I like the sound of Artic xxxxx. I think that it can make all the difference to peoples perceptions of teams, breeders etc if the affix conjurs up certain pictures of the breed. Ideally we will be putting a website together. I have images of cool blues & steel greys in mind, which ties in to the artic theme. I have already merged a pastel picture of my grey sibe pup and my british blue shorthair cat so it looks like one is sleeping on the other. I was toying with the affix fire n ice, but I`m not sure about it. The other was a little contradictory: Artic fire. So I`m keeping a list and will add to it for a while and then make a decision in a month or two just to ensure that I`ve thought of everything I can think of.

Thanks for the names!

Hi,
I'm a little confused here - do you mean "Artic" as in Articulated lorry, or "Arctic" as in North Pole? The difference in spelling is very important for the meaning!
- By Sarah Date 27.05.03 21:25 UTC
It is always of great amusement to Sibe owners the number of people with affixes named for large lorries :D
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 27.05.03 22:01 UTC
Do you think they realise what they've done, Sarah?! ;) :D
- By EBull [gb] Date 28.05.03 18:37 UTC
he he he he. Didn`t notice that I spelt it wrong. Yes I suppose that does make a difference!

Nice one.

It would be awfully embarrassing to have your Champions going down in history as a spelling mistake!
