Hey everyone,

I have a 1/2 yr old rough collie and he is such a fussy eater!!!!!! I know its mainly my fault because i have switched his food soooo many times! I have read alot of info on the BARF diet and i have decided to switch him to this ( this will be the last time i switch his diet!) So i cant get him to eat BARF! he wont eat chicken necks, backs, wings, ground beef, chicken gizards, veggie mush, well you should get the point he dosent eat anything!!!!

My question is, IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN GET HIM TO EAT? I WANT TO FEED HIM BARF FOR THE REST OF HIS DAYS I DONT WANT TO SWITCH HIS FOOD AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!!

can anyone please help me (ps he is fussy with every type of food!!!)

Does he not touch it at all or just pick? Have you tried tripe, most dogs go for that. Do you give him the meat on the bone? If so try mincing it all together he may appreciate it more.

Tripe is available from most pet shops. It smells awful but most dogs love it.

Something that's been suggested on one of the Barf lists I'm on is to switch him over by lightly cooking the meat first - then every day or two just cook it that bit less until he is eating it raw (of course make sure it's boneless meat that you are cooking). He will be tempted by the smell of the cooking, then as you slowly back off on how much it gets cooked he will get used to it.

Definitely try tripe. You can get it in the freezer in Petsmart already ground and it's not quite so disgusting.

ps - if you haven't already check out joining the yahoogroup britbarf. Go to www.yahoogroups.com and check out some of the groups they've got going with BARF. The BritBarf one is great though as everyone is at a different stage with their dogs and they're all a great friendly bunch

Wow, do I know what you are going through. I have had the same problem with my Yorkie who is 8 months old. FUSSY is not the word for her!! Super FUSSY is the word for her. I too switched her to barf and the only thing I could get her to eat was beef. And you can't feed beef everyday. The ground up veggies she wouldn't touch, but loves cut up veggies! ?????? I finally said no more to Barf, I was throwing away way too much food. You can't put it back in the bag, like you can Complete. I ended up researching all the Complete foods and decided on Burns. She will eat that! I found that she just doesn't eat alot at one time, she is small, 4 pounds. So I leave her food out all day and take it up at night. I didn't want to start doing that, but if I didn't I don't think she would eat enough to survive. Good luck to you, I hope you find something he will eat. Shirl :D
