Training a dog for sheepdog work is never going to be easy for the simple reason that so few people have access to sheep! My sister, who lives in North Wales has a farm bred working sheepdog who is a natural. When the sheep at the farm up the hill get into her garden, which happens around twice a week my brother in law and Jess take them back up to the farm and on a couple of occasions when Jess has found them first she has taken them back on her own.

Sheepdog Trials, as are Gundog Working Tests, tend to be held in the back of beyond so are not easy to stumble across although I have been a spectator at several when I've been on holiday at my sister's

Regards, John

Hi Katie,
Have you looked at the website for the International Sheepdog Society? (www.isds.org.uk). They have books and videos as well as other info that might be useful.
