Can anyone advise me of a good gundog trainer / training class in the Woking area of Surrey?

Are you in Retrievers? The Bucks area of the United Retriever Club hold training sessions at Windsor which is not too far from you.

I know of some HPR training in that area but no nothing about any Spaniel training any nearer than High Wycombe.

If it's labrador retrievers you could try the Kent Surrey and Sussex Lab.Ret.Club who do training in the said areas. How far from Woking is Petworth?? There's a trainer there.

URC and Guildford Gundog are smashing - not that I'm biassed! Also Utility Gundog and Arun and Downland (a little further south generally) - they're all in full flow of training sessions now.

At this stage you'll probably gain more from joining these for the class situation and picking lots of other people's brains as anything else. And they're much more reasonable than an individual trainer.

We train with all of them, and also train with our own dogs mostly on Bramshott Chase - it gets addictive. Do e-mail if you want more details

Hi All, Thanks for your responses, i have a cocker spaniel pup, coming up to 4 months old, he is already showing great flushing skills (through my favourite ivy !!), and his retireve isn't bad, i just want to start him off on the right foot and try to work with his instincts. I'll try to look up some of those sites / training classes you have outlined.

Unfortunatly as he's a spaniel the retriever clubs are out. I don't know if any of the clubs Jo mentioned take Spaniels, the only one in this area is Chiltern Gundog but they train just west of High Wycombe which might be just a little far for you.
