Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Dog standing on three legs ....?
- By guest [gb] Date 20.05.03 09:25 UTC
Over the past few weeks our nine month old whippet occasionally stands with one of his hind legs raised, seeming reluctant to put it to the ground or put any weight on it. After a minute or so he's fine again & it doesn't seem to be causing him any pain (until yesterday he didn't yelp prior to doing this or when you touch it). Most of the time he's very active & fit but this happens perhaps once every few days - a total of probably half a dozen times in all. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? We initially thought he was playing for sympathy as he loves being made a fuss of but, last night, for the first time he yelped very briefly prior to lifting his leg so so we're now worried that there might be something wrong with him. Could it be a slight strain or pull? Any advice very gratefully received. Thanks. Pete

Think he may have a slipping platella (knee cap) you should see the vet.
