Hello,
I have a girl here who is in heat who we are trying to get bred, she won't stand for the male but is trying to mount another female dog who lives with me. LOL this girl is driving me crazy. Anyone else ever seen this behavior in a bitch in heat before.

Yes its very common. If and when the in season bitch allows the other bitch to mount her she will probably be ready for the dog! Some bitches aren't ready til 14-18 days or occasionally even later.

Mine do it all the time, and their technique would put many stud dogs to shame! I have been told that bitches will stand for another bitch sooner than when she will for a male, so that once they start mounting each other it is be3st to give it another day, or maybe two before expecting them to accept a male. As I ownonly bitches I cannot say how true this is. I have had most success when my bitches have been mated after day 15, earlier than this and they have missed or had small litters.

Thank you for your reply. I know I must be patient. But it's kinda funny here right now a real circus with 2 females and 1 male here. The female in heat wants the other female, the stud dog wants the female in heat. The female not in heat just wants them to act normal again lol. It is day 12 for the in heat female, hopefully within the next couple of days. The stud dog is raring to go and has been for about 2 days, prior to that he was just patiently waiting.
My bitch was standing for the other bitches from the first day of her season! but she kept her bum firmly planted to floor till day 13 when the dog came near her!!

I have two females. The younger one mounts the other one but I think she is a bit confused as she starts on her head and works her way down till she falls off the back end. She then runs round to her head and starts all over again until one of them gets fed up. All the while this is going on, the older one just carries on eating or chewing, whatever she is doing. Sometimes she waits till she gets so far down her back and then flips her off. It is quite funny to watch but a bit embarrassing if any one else is in the house.

some of these bitches are lesbian. i was watching a documentary on discovery channel about gay animals. and its true, there is such a thing as gay animals. by bringing in a male dog, we could only be forcing them to do what doesn't come naturally to them. i have two bitches, but they are too young for me to know their preference.

Well in my breed we don't go in for forced matings, at most after the pair have had a chance to play and flirt, especially if the bitch is a maiden then her collar may be held to steady her, or she may be kept on a lead if the mating area is large, so that she doesn't injure the male during the tie if she gets worried.
If a bitch doesn't want the male, then she doesn't get mated, lol

of coarse as long as theres no force involved then the bitches will decide what they want to do.. but some people really want to breed their bitch, so i dont think she will have much of a choice. i have two Staffs, well actually right now i have one (4.5 month old) im having my second one coming in two days... (very very exited) :D

My female Lhasa mounts and has her way with my male persian cat!! The cat doesn't seem to mind. Bethx

I have a bitch who 'loves' her mother or one of her brothers - but isn't interested in her 2nd brother. Let them get on with it. It's doing no harm.
(Don't get me started again on people who force matings on their bitches.....)

I think we have traditonally been a lot of old softies inour breed, and a large proportion ofthe old guard being female perhaps has led to us having a view that nature will take it's course, and being a natural breed they should be able to eventually manage their own matrimonial affairs.

If nature isn't going to take it's course, it's not meant to!!
If you try to change it, you're just creating more problems.
