help please.A friend has been to look at some DDB pups .The breeder said they were sired by the BOB at crufts-just looked through the crufts results and no DDB! Have I missed them or is it that theres no classes cos they're still on the import reg.
Another thing that concerns is that she was told they would cost around £500-struck me as very cheap so did some research and found all pups advertised from rep.breeders were about £1000-£1250.
Lastly does anyone know what the breed average hip score is?

Dogues are not at Crufts as still on the Import Reg.
£500.00 is VERY cheap. Are they KC reg? I would be very wary of this breeder. If they are KC it could be the pups are older than 8 weeks and the breeder (not probably knowing what breeding involves :-() cannot cope with them so has decided to sell them cheap to get shut!!! :-(
The average price is as you say but some kennels are charging £1750.
As for the hip score. As it is such a numerically small breed there were at December 2002 only 76 dogues tested. The lowest score at that time being 6 and the highest being 80. As you can see a huge difference. The breed ave worked out to about 25ish but am sure if ALL dogues tested this ave would be a fair bit higher.
To get a true breed average we really need more statistics but of course with some dogues as any breed it is obvious without X-ray the hips are not to clever so of course these would not be tested so will be hard to get a true average but I guess the same can be said for other breeds.
My male is 29 and my bitch is 19. I am really happy with both those scores having seen alot of Bordeaux.
If you know the names of the parents of this litter I will have a look on my KC print off and see if they were tested as up to Dec 2002.

Thanks very much for your advice.I must admit alarm bells rang when she told me about them.Not my breed but the price and 'Crufts BOB' worried me since I've looked at the breed myself a while ago and knew they were expensive-couldn't see they'd come down that much yet and I saw them in the rare breed suppliment last week and didn't think they could be shown but don't know much about the rules and regs concerning rare breeds .The pups are only a couple of days old so its not that she can't sell them -thinking they can't be registered or £500 must be the deposit!!!

Wonder if any ddb owners can help me , a friend has got a 6 month old puppy bitch she is first and foremost a family pet but they were thinking about having a go at showing her , but she has a bit of a ridge starting at the base of the skull and going down to the start of her shoulders , just wondered if that is correct or whether it is a fault, the ridge ie similar to a ridgebacks , but it only measures about 4 to 6 inches.
