On the barf diet can you feed your dogs raw venison bones and pheasant, rabbits etc,in fact all wild game as well as other raw meats, also the offal of wild game? I hope someone can answer this question for me as i have just changed my bullmastiffs to the barf feeding and i am not sure if wild game is alright

yes, basically, you can!
Experience will tell you which bones are best, and which have bits that can be broken off. Dont give any bones unsupervised though!

Thank you this has been very helpful, Hooch

You should check the ofal and muscle for Worm cysts, and worm the dogs more regularly.

Thank you for your advice i shall check all the wild meat and worm my girls more often, Hooch
Hi Hooch, don`t know how practical/possible it would be to check any meat you feed your dog`s with for cysts/worms etc, but you can definately have your dog`s faeces tested quite easily for worms BEFORE administering any wormers. That way you will know if your dog really needs those wormers. Makes more sense to to me :)
Christine, Spain.

I know that in Poland you had to get home killed meat (a lot of people fatttened pigs on their allotments) checked for worm cysts by a bet, and it would then be stamped fit for human consumption. the same thing happened at the hunting lodges. The meat would be dressed out (Ofal retained) and you would call the Vet in to inspect it. The hunter would then buy his kill from the State owned hunting preserve priced by the kilo dresssed weight. This was a couple of years ago now when I stayed with family, and at a hunting lodge with a Game keeperkeeper/Forester.

Hi,
Sounds fine, but be careful of large bones they will be able to eat (rather than just chew on) as they can break a tooth. Rabbit and the others are fine, if they come with the meat aswell.

I know i seem a bit daft but is it right that they can eat a whole carcess bones included of a rabbit, duck, or chicken as long as it is raw, it is just that we have always been told that those sort of bones can choke your dogs.Hooch
Only when cooked, Hooch, they're (almost always) fine raw :)
