Wondered if anyone has had experience of their little juvenile darling cocking its leg indoors?? We were in the pet superstore today and Roscoe (13 months) "performed" up a bag of Eukanuba. Now, either he was trying to tell me "you used to feed me this rubbish and I don't like it" or he was marking territory in a most inappropriate place. He got a good telling off, although we didn't want the whole shop to know! He tried a similar thing up the pool table in our local recently but I managed to distract him with my boot.
Am I to expect this to happen up my sofa too?
Is there anything I can do to prevent it, other than a good rollocking when it happens?
My mum told me I should have got a girl...

Iam no expert but yes he will cock hes leg indoors mine did until i had him castrated so if your not breeding him theres your answer but make sure he doesnt cock his leg indoors before you get him done otherwise its a pointless procedure he will do it anyway even with a bitch you will have had her in season all over the place so it makes no difference really.:)

My boys have been known to cock their legs 'inappropriately' (mainly on stalls at the market or at shows,or on my M-i-L's floral arrangements),but
never in our house. It is a 'boy thing' and you can't afford to stop concentrating on him. My washing on the line has been territorially marked, as has the lawnmower (electric

). Inside our house they're fine.
Bitches are much more relaxing!

Hi
We were giving our 3 bitches a drink of water before loading them back into the car, after a walk round local forest......
A huge black dog came running up..(owners were following a few yards behind..the dog seemed friendly, and wanted to say hello, so no problem....
The owners called him, and he promptly cocked his leg on our pile of cavaliers, gave them a smelly bath, and ran back to his owners.
The poor owner-woman's face was a picture!! They were SOOOO embarrassed!
(We fell about laughing, and got the wet wipes out!)

PS Agree it's a "Boy thing"...they just gotta show off! Bet my old man comes back as a dog in the next life!! :D

Beaches are very risky for this, very embarrassing when your male dog pees on people's beach towels, and piles of clothes, and food hampers, and sand castles that kiddies are working on... and equally not nice when someone else's big dog pees on your suede jacket that you left on the sand when you played ball with your dogs... I found my male dogs never peed in their own house but you had to watch them like a hawk when in someone else's house. I always thought it was just marking any new territory. :( :)

I had a beagle that use to cock his leg on every bed in the house. I was constantly washing the bedcovers. I never could get him to stop. It was awful, the house always smelled of wee. The problem was I could never catch him in the act. I tried the sprays to deter him, but to no avail, the next day he did the same thing. I finally just had to make sure every door in the house was shut so he couldn't get into any room other than the kitchen and the sitting room. I got a girl this time!! I wish you luck. Shirl :D

Although my lad is a lot younger i am experiencing a similar problem, Perry is only 14 weeks, but has been housetrained since the age of 9 weeks, he's a diamond. Except for the fact that he is insistent on peeing in the house all of a sudden, he has only started this over the last couple of days, but he is actually coming IN from the garden to pee!! I'm unsure if he is just confused or whether he is going through early adolescence!! I sympathise with you totally.
One tip i have been given is IF you can catch him in the act, to spray him on the nose with water. Up to you whether you want to be taking a supersoaker around your local petstore with you!!
Best of luck, let me know of anything that works.....please.
