Hi, I would really like some help.
My bitch isn't due to whelp until next week. It's her first litter and was mated 3 times so we're not sure of her dates but the first date is 19th May, but I think she might be going into labour now. She wont eat her dinner, her temperature has gone down from 37.5 to 36.3 and although she's not really panting, her breathing is very fast, all she wants to do is sit by me. Am I just getting over anxious or is she in the first stages of labour?

I am replying as nobdy has got to you yet and I have only had one litter,

I stuck with the temp as the indicator and my little bitch had her puppies within a couple hours once her temp was 36.2 so think you are near.

I have the book of the bitch out and it does say temp drop labour iminent with in 24 hours , we only got 2 hours past and she had them.

it does seem she is in the first stages of labour, firstly dont panic.
i've had a bitch whelp a litter on day 57 . it was hard work i had to hand feed for the first 4 days until the bitch's milk came, but all survived ,just keep a close eye on your girl ,if your really worried ring your vet,they will put your mind at rest.:)

She's painting heavily now and doesn't know what to do with herself, keeps roaming around, so I pretty convinced that she's having them soon. I feel so sorry for her. It's a lonely business at 3 in the morning.

Everything so far going really well. 2 girls, 1 boy and probably another 4-5 to come. Chloe is really relaxed about the whole thing. Must go, another one coming

All over and Chloe's done a fantastic job, she was so calm all the way through, wonder if it was the raspberry leaf tablets? She had 4 girls and 3 boys unfortunately the last little boy was still born, we tried everthing we knew but weren't able to revive him.

The 6 pups are doing really well and tucking in while Cho has a well deserved sleep
