Whn you have a long thread. and different people are talking to each other how do you tell what post a reply is answering?????
I get confused when reading a post just top to bottom.
(every chance I'm just being thick of course!!!)

PS ..I am known as the BB on a newsgroup I subscribe too ..only there it stands for Buxom Barmaid ;) :D

I didn't know Bramble Basher was a barmaid...

Dear Posters,
For those of us who are relatively new to the board, where can we find out what the abbreviations mean? Eg. I have no idea what ROTFL means, or, for example, LOL (I have always used this for "lots of love", but posters seem to stick it in willy-nilly - are they sending lots of love to everyone???). I also have trouble with the abbreviations of the dog breeds and I have to try to guess what kind of dog it is by the information in the post. But this is often not possible. Is there a list of abbreviations or acronyms anywhere so I can make more sense of the posts? Many thanks.

Dear Fablab,
MANY MANY thanks for that info!! Now I have some idea what's going on.
Now, do you have any ideas where I can find the abbreviations for the dog breeds?? It's really frustrating reading a long post about an XYZ dog doing wierd/interesting things and not knowing whether it is a little tiny terrier, or a monster giant something.
Thanks again :D :)

I thought your post was automatically filed under the one you wished to reply to, as long as you clicked "reply" on the relevant post. So, all the narrower posts under wider ones (so to speak) are replies to the wider post.
Or maybe I'm caught in one of those dreams where I'm trying to run through quick sand ...

If you use active topics or the whole thread then that is so, but if you view in new posts they all appear one after the other the same width. If I am unsure what it is a reply to I click on the thread title and then I can see it lined up with correct posts.
