I cant remember who it was but I want to thank whoever it was that gave me the idea of taking out a favourite toy on our walks with us.

Darcy has a VERY annoying squeeky newspaper that up until now had been confiscated because she drove us absolutely insane with the constant, loud and high pitched squeaking.

I took it out with us yesterday and every time she ran off to another dog I just gave it a squeek and she'd come running back and we'd have a good game of tug and war and a few throws and then I'd take it back off her when the other dog had gone.

She was allowed to play if the other dog approached her but I didnt want her running willy nilly up to any dog like she has done in the past.
An aggressive labrador (didnt think there was such a thing) nearly took her head off when she approached him. Luckily he was on a halti so he couldnt do any damage.

Now the toy is going to be used solely on walks where she's off the lead. Hopefully the novelty wont wear off or I'll be back to square one!!!!!!!

p.s wasnt 100% succesful. At one point she came back for her squeeker, I threw it , she fetched it and then ran to the dog with it in her mouth!!!!!!!!! :D
oh well is a vast improvement!!!!

Would recommend it to anyone with recall problems whose dogs are toy motivated (I'm lucky cos Darcy is everthiing motivated cos she's such a loon) :)

I don't know if it was to you, but I often suggest a favourite toy (ours is a frisbee that finally worked with our one dog) and that You, not the dog, start and stop the games. Sounds like you've found something that works!! FANTASTIC!!

It does work doesn't it found that works with an equally LOONY Stafford pup mine.

Now I take her "BABY" with me, she had this toy as a comfort when she was a tiny puppy you know the sort you get from pet shops tugger legs and arms and a furry squeaky belly (I remember when she first had it it took her about 5 weeks to be able to get a sound from it)

But when she got a bit older we took it off her because I was dubious of her getting the squeak out.
Glad I saved it now she adores it and won't leave your side if she can see or even just hear it.

Hence reacall okay but same problem she does have a habit of running toward the ther dogs with it and people in fact now I think about it anything that walks past us is allowed to look at "BABY"
