Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Which collar?
- By Alexanders [gb] Date 14.05.03 10:06 UTC
I have used a thin chain (too thin) for Saffy when showing her, but I really want to find something that ruffles her fur up less. The check chain that I use slips down her neck and then messes her coat up when its pulled up again. I am currently considering a rolled leather collar, but would a slip one or a half check be best do you think? Saffy is a Briard so has a very long and full coat. What do you find is best - anyone with a long coated breed? Thanks.

Hi Fiona
I have a Briard, and show her, I use a herring bone chain for showing not too long, but a fairly thick as opposed to a thin one, you need something with a bit of meat on it when showing Briards. They are a little difficult to find but Hub International sell them for about 15 pounds. I think mine is a bout 24 inches, I had a 26 inch thinner version but found that it wasn't substancial enough.

Hi Haz

thanks for that - funnily enough I have just replied to your thread about the pacing etc.

Thanks again
