At the end of the day i would like nothing better than my beloved dog to get on my bed for a cuddle but all he does is jump about like a mad thing and i end up having to put him back in the kitchen. Also why does he always bite playfully9although it hurts)when i simply want to stroke him. Will he always be like this. He is 6 months

Hi,
He's a puppy, and he's playing!! Being up on your bed is obviously very exciting, so he leaps around. He'll have grown out of it by the time he's an old dog! In the meantime, keep him calm at bedtime and stroke him when you're watching TV or whatever.

my border collie who is an old man now, was an absolute maniac but i used have the luxury of taking him out for 3 4 hour walks across field and woods in the afternoon so in the evening he would be so tired he used to sleep most of the night in my bed with my pillow and covers. cheeky so an so

My border collie was very manic when she was a puppy, now that she is 14 months old she has calmed down so much that we can enjoy cuddles - she always jumps on my bed in the morning and settles down for a cuddle. I wouldn't allow the biting when you stroke him/ her (sorry can't remember which one it was!) Just say no strongly and try to continue so that they don't learn that biting allows them to stop you touching them.
