I've noticed recently when I give my 4 year old Parson Russell a "denturask" it has a little blood on it when he is chewing it. His teeth and gums look good and he doesn't appear to have any problems. I've never brushed his teeth - I don't think he would let me! His normal diet is Bakers Complete and he also has human food (ie meat and veg) as one meal or a denturask or similar chew. I've been reading on the forum about feeding marrow bones. Do you think it would be a good idea to introduce them to his diet?

Bleeding gums are often a sign of gum disease, although 4yrs old sounds a bit young for that; you could get your vet to check out the teeth, just in case:)
If it was in it's early stages you wouldn't nessicarily (sp) notice any visible problems.

wouldn't worry too much, they are hard, and spikey pieces do break off, as long as you cannot see major tartar on his gums I would tend to think he was ok.
