Ok you lot how about this for a non text book litter!!

My son's working sheepdog was perfectly normal yesterday, was out with him working the sheep albeit a bit slower than normal due to being in whelp.

Put her away last night, she ate her meal ravenously at about 9pm, he checked her again at about Midnight, she was showing no signs of anything different.

Went into her at 6am, and guess what 3 healthy puppies, 7 days early!!

She certainly hadn't been reading the text books had she :-D

Hi,

Obviously not!! :D You were dead lucky everything went ok, hope the pups are still fine and doing well.

My beardie bitch Tassel had her pups almost a week early, luckily we always have the whelping box and room ready three weeks before the bitch is due, so she can learn to accept it before the pups come and she had them in the box and because I always sleep with pregnant bitches for the last 3 weeks and until the pups are 3 weeks old, I was there to help, even though she managed pretty well on her own.

Do your pups have bright pink noses and feet, this litter of ours did and as they came up to a week old, these became normal (obviously the time they should have been born). :)

You are absolutely right, their noses and feet are brilliant pink. I have never had a litter born more than 3 days early previously and the difference is amazing. Plus my BT's don't have any white on them so this bright pink colour is very different.

You're right we were very lucky, mind she was in her kennel with whelping box as she has been for a week now, so apart from the heatlamp not being on everything was well ready.

Mum and pups are doing brilliantly, she is a super mum.

We were the same here. Not a sign. My bitch even had her food in between pups as she was wanting it. She was doing laps of hte garden about 1 hours before first pup appeared.

Good luck with the puppies and hope all is well.
