Hi, try searching on this site for your chosen breeds and they will have a list of breeders, as well as details of the breed and their standard.

Hey i can give you a hint. All dogs who have hair do not shet like the dogs who have fur.
You can get terriers and poodles. even the beared collie. And some toy's. just make sure that your pup does not have fur. Fur means undercoat. hair means no undercoat.

Not true, Marla. :(
Dalmatians have no undercoat, just 'hair' as you put it, and shed continually, and like a snowstorm when they are moulting.

Think it might come as a surprise to owners of Bearded Collies to hear their dogs have no undercoat too :D

Hi guest, I have an Irish Terrier (Olive) and I also have asthma and dog/cat allergies. Generally I have no problems at all with the coat and the shedding is hardly noticable. Irish Terriers have quite a bit of undercoat, but it doesn't shed (or very little if it does). The only time I have a reaction (very slight) is when I am stripping the coat. Irish, Wire Fox and Welsh(?) need their coats stripped to pull out the dead hair. When I am planning to stip the coat I take an antihistamine a few hours before. Hope this helps and good luck finding the right breed for your family.
Wrong Marla
Border Terriers have hair plus they have an undercoat

Hi Marla,
Beardies are a nightmare for anyone who has problems with dog hair, they have serious undercoat (not so much the working bred ones), but their hair is very light and floats around the house. We often find a hair in our dinner....yum :D
When they moult, boy do they moult, we get carrier bags full from our lot and have often thought about getting it spun.
I definately would not recommend a beardie!!

I have heard from a breeder and an owner that they do not have undercoat and do not shed. I mean the bearded collie. Thats what i have heard.
But when you say that they shed like crazy, oh boy thats bad. you can make a sweather from their coat. When i was a teen ager i use to pet sit a shephard. We found the hair in the butter between the dishes in the shelves. We thought that we did had the dog. My mom was telling me every time. Leave the fur outside the house. i tried too. :-)
also with the asthma and allergie's. If my kids where allergic to the dog i would get a poodle. And i thought that the terrier does not shed like crazy. Does the wire has not fur too??
