I have an 18 month old dog which i have been showing, although he appears to have lost his top line and looks rather hunched all the time even on the move, he is not in any discomfort, and is happy in himself just don't know what to do about it. Has anyone had this happen or does anyone have any ideas on how to traet it ??

Hi Fourlegs,

Does your dog only "hunch" up when in the ring or does he do it all the time?

If he only does it in a show environment it could be perhaps a bad experience of a judge going over him a bit to roughly around the back end. The only cure is to take hime to ring craft and make it a happy & fun experience and perhaps bait him, and a lot of patience.

Hormones could be the other problem if there is a bitch in season a male dog will act silly and uncooperative in the ring, I call it a teenage thing. Is he a large breed or small breed?

Good luck and let us know how he progresses.

I dont know what breed you have, but with Weimaraners when they are stacked (standing) if they appear to roach the back, you will see owners stroking the back. They run the fingers through the fur backwards and it makes the dog stand better. It does not always work etc.
If its on the move I dont know how to answer that one. Does the dog look for a treat too much and told its self scrunched up? Or maybe a treat is needed?.
