A dog fed on Omega Adult complete food 23% protein level. Dog inclined towards hyper activity. I need to rule out the possibility of diet related. Therefore, I would much appreciate 'feedback' (excuse the pun) of anyone's experience with this particular food.
Your experience of this particular food would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi
The protein level shouldn't caue a problem as it's pretty avaerage for an adult dog, however it could be any additives in the food that cause the hyperactiveness..I've never used the food so I couldn't comment but it's something to look in to. :)

We had a puppy that was hyper really manic at times. We put him on a BARF diet and within a fortnight he was completely different. Barf has more protein because of the meat content but none of the chemicals that are put into commercial food to attract the dogs. I have an allergy towards chemicals (years of working in a darkroom) so why not the dog.

I knew two dogs fed on Omega who were fruitcakes, the red colouring can apparantly cause hyperactivity similar to food colourings/additives in our food that cause hyper children. Within a few weeks on a more natural diet the dogs were much more managable.
Dawn.
Just a brief thought, I am not familiar with Omega but dogs can often be allergic to individual ingredients within a food. Plenty of dogs probably do well on most diets but there will always be the odd one who may react. Have you tried an exclusion diet for several weeks minimum and considered the type of protein your dog eats as well as the amount?
Hth a bit
