SEVEN WEEKS AGO I RESCUED A 18 MONTH OLD MALE NEWFOUNDLAND.
FOR SIX WEEKS HE HAS BEEN WONFERFUL, NOW HE IS BECOMING AGGRESSIVE.
ESPECIALLY TO MY 12 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER.
HAS ANYONE ANY IDEAS. THE VET HAS PRESCIBED PILLS TO SURPRESS HIS HORMONES. I DONT WANT TO PART WITH HIM BUT MY DAUGHTERS SAFETLY MUST COME FIRST. HOW DO I GET THEM TO MAKE FRIENDS.
HELP.

Welcome to the forum.
Firstly, you do not say if you got him from a Rescue ? If you did, you must notify them straight away that you are having problems :-) Secondly, can you describe what it is that he is actually doing ? Is he being out and out aggressive or is he just overly boisterous? Is it only with your daughter or all of you ? Do you know why he needed rehoming in the first place?

Hi - it sounds like he's trying to be dominant within the family and sees your daughter as someone he can be dominant over. I would definately suggest you contact the Newfoundland Club Welfare scheme - also what about the dog's breeder? It may also be necessary to have him neutered. If you contact me via my email perhaps we could have a chat and I may be able to help - depending on where you live or I could arrange for help from another Newfie breeder with experience of juvenile males who lives not too far away from you.
