Hi All.
I must be going wrong here somewhere . Have had Oscar for 4 weeks now and he is dry over night . During the day im trying to train him outside but its not going well at all . He goes a wee atleast every 25 mins . No2,s are not a prob as i can tell when his going to go but with a wee i cant. however i put him outside every 20 mins and if he goes i praise . We go into the garden i say go toilet and he goes . Yet he still goes all over the place in the house!
Why??????
Praise does not seem to get his tail going that much and if i have food he wont go at all.

My Yorkie would do the same thing, so she was confined to the kitchen until she was completely housetrained. I would bring her into the sitting room when we were in there and shut the door, but i watched her the whole time. If i saw her start to sniff everywhere, out I took her. It really trys your patience, but he will get the idea in the end. Everyone on CD kept telling me that one day it would just click and they would go outside all the time. That day, I'm glad to say, finally came to me. She was 4 months old. She is almost 7months now, so hang in there. He'll learn to go to the door. Do you carry him outside or do you let him go out on his own? That was another thing I learned I was doing wrong from CD. Once I started letting her go out on her own, not carrying her I mean, she then got the idea she had to go to the door to do her business. Shirl :D

hmmm...i would say persivere, i have an 8wk old and we seem to be doing ok. I have found that any activity (playing, eating, sleeping) need the toilet after. Just keep an eye on him and make sure you take him out lots, make sure you use the same word and when he is doing his wee use the word (mine does not take to treats either) so we have a run in the garden and that makes his tail wagg.. I think its a good idea that he wees and then plays so he knows what he has to do.
Also are you cleaning his indoor wees correctly? Im using odorkill and that is BRILLIANT! Monty has had only a couple of indoor accidents and he has never gone back to the same spot as i cleaned it with this.
Another thing to think is if he does not go outside, simply bring him back in and take him out again in 5 mins untill he does his stuff! Then you can be sure your ok!
Hope that helps :)

You dilute it down and it is safe on everything and around pets too so its great! Im addicted i freshen everything up with it! lol!
Good luck and i hope this will stop him going back to the same place and maybe you can get outside smelly! :)

Hi, my shihtzu is now one year old. Everytime we went out I would ring a bell that I hung on the doorknob and tell her "pee" or "lets go pee". It has worked, she now rings the bell everytime she wants to go out. She wore me out ringing the stupid bell, and she still rings it just to go out and sit on the doorstep, but I don't mind, it works. I take one with me when I visit and she will use it wherever we go.
