Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Lhasa Apso skin disorder
- By guest [us] Date 01.05.03 17:09 UTC
Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me. I have a 14 yr old Lhasa apso and they are known to have skin disorders. She bites and itches the inside of her back legs constantly and under her armpits. The skin turns black and scaly like. I have been giving her baths with a special shampoo with cortizone and also applying cortizone cream. It helps a little bit. I was wondering if anyone else knew something else I should do.
Thank you Lori

Hi Lori,

We have had allergic beardies in the past (and have now) :D, as you say some breeds are more prone than others!!

Firstly I would ask what food she is on? Some foods cause skin problems or don't help with skin problems and others make a big difference with skin problems and some even clear them up completely, depending on the problem. :)

Secondly has she had problems like this previously in her life?

Thirdly have you changed anything in your house, such as carpets, floor cleaner, washing powder etc.
