Hi has anyone else tried Naturediet? It is the best quality food I have found. It's a little more expensive than tinned but if like me you have a dog who wont eat dried food on it's own & can't eat tinned then it's great!
I changed her diet so many times because of stomach upsets I began to think I'd never finds anything!I just mention it because I had never heard of it before and expect there are a lot of dogs like Holly who find tinned food too much.

Hi Jane
Can you tell me a bit more about Naturediet? I've never heard of it.
Thanks.

Hi
Its good stuff. Comes in plastic trays and is basically cooked compressed meat rice and veg. There is a chicken, tripe, lamb, lite or puppy I think.
Its about 55p a tray, but worth it. No additives.
I use it or Gelert(which is a cooked natural meat in tins, again no additives) alongside the wholefood.

Murph has it along with his raw meat and bones - usually when I've forgotten to defrost! He likes it and it's made with good stuff.

Been on Naturediet for @ 3 months now. 2 bitches had different reactions to various foods, the 3rd could eat anything and everything! I buy in bulk direct from Naturediet, works out at @ 47p per pack, each bitch can have any variety and no adverse reactions!!! At long last I think I have cracked this tricky problem of feed them all the same ingredients and not have too worry about it? :D
I add Winalot wholemeal mixer 2/3 times a week.

How much do you buy at once ? Also it isn't frozen is it ???
Thanks
Lucy
I've used Naturediet alongside Burns complete for about 2 years now. I was fed up with the tinned foods containing loads of mush and jelly. A carton contains 18 trays. I buy about 5 trays, + 2 sacks of Burns and it lasts me 2-3 months for 2 dogs.
Its down to personal choice of course, but I can't complain about the health and condition of my dogs and they love their food (but what labs don't) :)

Hi Lorna
What are you reasons to feed it with the burns ?
I am very interested in it for Min my eldest as her colitis is not too bad but anything that will improve it further would be a bonus .
With a typical Lab if I were going to feed them just the nature diet what are the recommendations for quantities ?
I must admit if I could do the Barf diet then I would but we just have not got the freezer room but we are however thinging on getting a small chest freezer to solve the problem. However if the nature diet is the next best thing then I am seriously going to try it. I can't imagine though that there will ever be ant half used cartons that will be in our fridge with three Labs to feed !! :D
Do you get it directly form them as well ?
Lucy
I mix it with the Burns just through personal choice. The Burns was excellent, but I always feel dried food must be a bit boring. As they're both complete foods I felt it was a good compromise. Now mine have just Burns in the mornings, and Naturediet + Burns for their evening feed. They get a half tray each plus the Burns. I'm afraid I don't measure it out but they get a large cupful each. I have weighed it and they get the recommended amount which is printed on the Burns bags.

I spoke to the Nature diet folks last night and they recon that we should feed two cartons each a day. We worked out that it would double the already hefty food bill ! I think the idea of both dried and this is a good idea for the two younger ones and then all naturediet for Min the oldie as you say giving them best of both worlds.
Many Thanks
Lucy
PS Lorna , have you got any experience at all with SPD ? If so could I possibily mail you for a bit of advice is that is Ok ?
Lucy, have emailed you re: SPD.

Hi Lucy,
You should be able to buy NDiet either in single packs or boxes of 12, it's a fab food and we have used it for our gang in the past. We are now on the BARF, NDiet is definately a very close 2nd and smells almost edible....haven't tasted it though :D :D
It's not frozen and doesn't need freezing, but you should put any open packets in the fridge and then get them out to warm up again later. It's used in many countries and has great success in really hot countries like S. Arabia.

Hi
Roughly how much does it cost, and where can I buy it.
Do you feed the same amount as if it were tinned food (if you know what I mean) and would you add mixer like you would with tinned. thanks.

Prices vary greatly depending on where you go, I get mine for 48p from a local feed store.
Nature Diet do have a web site
http://www.nature-diet.co.uk/ where you can look up your local stickist.

Just been reading these messages.... as recently been having real troube getting Pepper ( Curly Coat ) to eat her meals.
She is fed twice a day morning / evening dry complete food ( Chicken & Rice )... which she has been on since 18 months ( now 41/2 ).
I have tried everything mixing in gravy / sardines.... now started buying Chappy / Pedigree Chumm pouches etc etc. to no avail....:(
So just found a stockist of the NatureDiet near me.... so going to give this a try after all your good results... fingers crossed it works...:D
...as she is slowly loosing weight so I'm pretty desperate..:(

Sorry for the late reply... I blame Larkins/Parkins, whatever the name is... No its not frozen, we have no space for a extra freezer, thats why we came off the BARF method, that and no regular supplier of RMBones. If I remember correctly, the discounted price per box (18x390g) depends on the number of boxes ordered, max discount is when you order x4 boxes of the same. I ordered x4 boxes each of original, lamb, lite and not forgetting the slightly more expensive boxes of the very smelly fish variety, which they love... so no excuses to take it of the menu... and believe me it crossed my mind, it does stink. 16 cases worked out at £144 with delivery. Easy to store, easy to open.

Hello to you all,
Just to say found a petshop that stocks the different varieties of Naturediet, and at last I've found something that Bailey, my very fussy Lhasa , will eat.Thank goodness for that. She was actually throwing up daily, that bright yellow bile stuff, as she was so empty, but thanks to you lot telling us about this naturediet food, she's actually eaten properly for the first time since I got her. Thanks again. Bethxx P.S it actually looks and smells yummy.....

Hi Jane- I feed my Dobie Nature Diet and James Wellbeloved mixed- like yours, my madam won't eat any dried food on its own but laps it up if mixed with half a tray of NatureDiet. It's around 55-59p at Pets at Home but most of the other petshops round her have sussed how good it is and have rasied their prices. Will keep stocking up at Pats at Home for as long as it's still best value.

Got our first delivery straight from Nature diet yesterday afternoon for Min the Oldie, the lite diet. Aren't the boxes heavy !!
She had her first lot last night and she loved it ! Instead of hoovering it all up with one snort as she normally does she actaully took mouthfuls and had a couple of chews !! She then licked the bowl so clean you can now see you reflection in it ! We will see how she goes on it now. I must admit though we both had a smell and did decide we wouldn't like to eat it ourselves. I think the smell of beef in red wine cooking had a more appealling aroma ! :D
Thanks for everybodies advice on this !:)

Can you order it on the nature diet site? I've had a look, and cant seem to find it? We put Charlie on naturediet a few months back and he seems to be thriving, but our local pet shop only sells the chicken, lamb and original varieties. We have managed to get him the chicken and tripe before, which he adored, and we're sure he'd love the fish, so we want to try and get hold of the other flavours.

Yes just go to the site (see the link Ingrid has done and then order it through that)
I just e-mailed them and then they rang up and confirmed the order and took the payments details. It arrived two days later. It worked out at about 48p a portion I think. Must go as I have a Min sitting next to me looking at me telling me it is time for her next fix of that lovely new food we have got for her ! :D It has also stopped her belching !!
