We are looking for 2 doberman bitch puppies. Our previous 2 doberman dogs died this year. We would like to replace them as soon as possible but are willing to wait for the right dogs.

Hi Guest,

I am sorry to hear of the death of your two dogs.

If you click on the Search button above and follow the guided search instructions you will probably find someone with Dobermann puppies. (No responsible/reputable breeder will agree to sell you two from the same litter though)

Over the last few years a reliable test for von Willebrands disease has become available and I would advise that you check with any breeders that the puppies parents have been dna tested so that no Affected pups will be produced. If you would like further information on this or cannot find any puppies available within the puppy section please feel free to come back to me. Hips and eyes are other tests done on Dobes.

Good luck in finding a pup

I know that you have done it before, but that was some years ago, two pups together really are double trouble, and most breeders will not knowingly seel into this set up. Why not contact Rescue for a nice bitch of around 5 years old, and after she has settled and her training is to your liking then consider getting a Puppy to join her.

You then have the advantage of the pup accepting her as being higher in the hierachy, she can be a good example, and company, and you can concentrate on training and bringing up the puppy.

Not only that, but a few years down the track ....you won't lose both of them at the same time again

Hi there, a wee piece of friendly advice, get one pup then wait until she is at least a year old until you get another one. This is because 2 pups from the same litter will pay no attention to you and will be very difficult to train as they will be only interested in each other. Also, when they reach maturity, there is a very high chance they will start fighting for the dominant position, as they will be equal in size and strength these fights will be very bad and could result in serious injury, and you may have to rehome one of them. Research has showed that 2 bitches will fight far more seriously than 2 dogs, and when bitches start fighting there is no stopping them. But if you get one bitch then wait for her to grow up, then you can get another pup then and naturally the older bitch will be the more dominant from the start and there should be more problems.
If you really have to get 2 pups from the same litter, I strongly advise that you get a male and a female ( neutering the male when he reaches sexual maturity ) and you should have no problems with fighting, although training them will still be very difficult. Good luck!
