To be honest I can see this cross being challenged as being a pitbull. :( Make sure you have paperwork(plus photos of both parents) to prove that it is a crossbreed, and not an illegal dog. The last thing you want is for it to be seized.

Hiya! Did a google search and came up with a couple of piccies of staff/boxer crosses - you'll have to copy and paste the links cos i've still not figured out how to do it:

They seem to "grin" even more than staffies!! Congrats on your new addition :)

Milo2003/Miloos can you confirm which username you intend to use to post on the forum, then we can remove your second username.

Hi,

Are you the same person worried about the KC paperwork...??? Or am I way off the mark...

Looking at the pictures of Staffie / Boxer crosses... some are quite goodlooking fellas...:D

Can't see how they would be classed as a pitbull...or am I being naive here...

Good Luck

Vicki :)

You'd be surprised what pit bulls look like according to whomever the 'expert' is on the day!! I believe these are what they call bull boxers in the states (I think).

Since the offspring could inherit any trait from either parent it is possible that some of the pups may be taller like the boxer with the facial features of the staff which could look very pitt like.
Neither parents genes will be dominant and at is possible that the pups will be quite varied in all aspects. It really will be a case of pot luck.Lets face it when breeding two well matched pedigrees together the offspring can vary so with 2 such different dogs who knows what the pups will look like as adults. The only thing I'd say for certain is it will be short coated since both parents have very similar coat type.
Unfortunately if the pup were seized as a pitt it wouldn't matter if you could show the parents to the authorities since all it needs to be proved is that the dog is of 'pitt bull type'-it could be a pedigree staff with KC papers.
Good luck with your new addition,Archer.

Admin, Melodysk,Malakai,Tanni,AliC.....

Very unhelpful.

I wonder if the original poster found this amusing?

I just hope he/she hasn't been put off champdogs.

Lisa,
Unhelpful it may have been, but true it more than likely was ;)

If the original poster is put off Cd so easily then that's very sad.....it's the old adage, ask a silly question......

Indeed - why buy a dog if you don't know what it looks like?
- By Lisa-safftash [gb] Date 28.04.03 22:25 UTC
Okay, maybe i'm stupid....but the original poster said he/she was getting the pup in 4 weeks.
By normal standards, that would mean the pup would be 4 weeks (ish) old now.

How can you know what a pup is going to look like at that age? You can't be sure with purebred dogs, let alone crossbreeds.

The other thing I wanted to say was....I don't know the original poster, or know anything about him or her...I just really think that as champdogs is a well known site, us experienced owners have a 'duty' to try and help other owners, experienced or inexperienced.

Hope you can see my point.

Lisa, when you have been around for a while you will learn to get a feel for 'serious' posts and a feel for wind ups. If you are reading all the forums you will see that this member is also posting under a second username. If you look at this posters original post you will see that in the space of one post, their puppy changed from a boxer to a boxer/staff cross. If you cross reference with the rest of the forums you will see that there are several debates, including one about kennel club registration for said puppy.

Firstly, not all members are genuine and when you have been around a while you will find this out. I am not saying that milos2003 is not genuine, but you have to wonder why they are posting under two usernames and why they have not offered an explanation when challenged :-)

Secondly, Milo2003 has been given helpful replies.
Humour makes the world go round and because you do not see a funny side to this thread, does not mean that others should not.

I've got 2 Boxer/terrier crosses (brothers) and you'd be surprised at how similar to each other they are in all aspects, facial, height, coat etc. So it may not be that much of an unknown quantity! And yes I was worried they'd be ugly too but thankfully there are very handsome! I was also concerned that they may look pitbully but that hasn't happened either (unless you are a police/RSPCA 'expert' and then anything goes!)

Too true, Bec :(
Remember Otis, the Great Dane cross who was seized and destroyed for being 'pitbull type'? He looked nothing like one. So sadly it seems likely that any smooth-haired, medium sized crossbreed is 'at risk' - if it's half Staffy as well.......
