Hey what about issynoho or something, the panda who sat in a treehouse and
scibble on his paw and something would happen?

Briony- this is really sad !
- By Montys Mum [gb] Date 28.04.03 11:07 UTC
Briony,

I remember Issinoho the panda. He got his name because he lived in a crate that was partially covered by foliage, so only some of the letters were showing:

THIS SIDE UP
..NO HOOKS

He thought this was his name! Can't remember much else about it though!

Monty's Mum :)
- By briony [gb] Date 28.04.03 13:07 UTC
Glad you remember :-D Briony
- By chaliepud [gb] Date 27.04.03 20:55 UTC
Briony, I had really fond memories of Jamie and the Magic Torch so got it out of the library for my little boy - it was sooooooo boring compared to todays kids stuff, which is much faster moving.

He loves Thunderbirds though, which has really stood the test of time and is also rather keen on all the Looney Tunes stuff - but that is just his sadistic sense of humour I think (he's 4 next month!!!)

Don't forget Zaza the cat - and Kiki used to appear over the wall on a ladder (!!)
- By jmcockayne [gb] Date 28.04.03 12:00 UTC
OOh I loved Pipkins. It was my favourite. Hartley the (very dishevelled looking!!) hare, octavia the ostrich and the tortoise. What a show!! I bet if they showed it now we would be very dissapointed, but at the time it was just great :D :D. Also, Barnaby the Bear, wow, real blasts from the past. :)
- By briony [gb] Date 28.04.03 13:06 UTC
Ok,ok, what about fingermouse,or who remembers paper chain with
the red and yellow spiders called itsy and Bitsy who use to make things.

Briony :-D:-D
- By tanni [gb] Date 28.04.03 13:13 UTC
what about mary..mungo....and midge..my grandsons favourite at the moment is clifford the big red dog.
- By tanni [gb] Date 28.04.03 13:15 UTC
ohhhhhhhh and the moomins......i LOVED that song!.:d.
- By Julia [gb] Date 28.04.03 14:16 UTC
Ooh we had huge disagreements over the weekend about Clifford. Christopher insisting he's called "Clippard" and us trying to explain that it's not.....(well we'll call you Christine then shall we....!!)

Now Mary, Mungo & Midge I remember, Mr Benn, Trumpton (Pew, Pugh, Barney, Mcgrew, Cuthbert, Dibble & Grubb wasn't it??), Top Cat, Bagpuss (with Professor Yaffle and the Mice). All time favourite though was The Magic Roundabout, I even have an Ermintrude mug at home and work!!

But what about Captain Pugwash and Rhubarb & Custard.

Its also nice to see that Noddy has made a come back in a new format, albeit at 7.30am. The new format Bill & Ben video (look no strings) has been played fuzzy!!

Old ones are still the best, and I haven't noticed and changes for the sake of being "PC" either
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 28.04.03 14:46 UTC
Anybody else remember Noggin the Nog? (And no,they can't arrest you for it!) :D
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 28.04.03 14:53 UTC
But you CAN be arrested for Muffin the Mule :D :D :D

Catweazle
Tomorrow People
Chocky
Watch with Mother
Picture Book
Star Trek (the FIRST time around)
Swallows and Amazons .....

ah me ...

Melody :)
- By Montys Mum [gb] Date 28.04.03 15:00 UTC
Yes, Catweazle (used to give me the creeps) was on after the wrestling and before Dr Who. I remember tea times, hiding behind the sofa during the scary bits of Dr Who! Then later, some light-hearted humour with Basil Brush (boom boom!) to get things back to normal. :)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 28.04.03 15:08 UTC
Catweazle was 1st Husbands nickname :D :D

I will say no more :D
- By Montys Mum [gb] Date 28.04.03 15:20 UTC
He lived in a water tower then??? :D :D
- By Daisy [gb] Date 28.04.03 14:57 UTC
And, of course, Ivor the Engine :)

Daisy
- By Julia [gb] Date 28.04.03 15:09 UTC
I remember hiding from Doctor Who as well, and yes it was behind the sofa.

Ivor the Engine, didn't he have a donkey?

A friend told me last week that she was "being taunted with a chocolate muffin", but no mule involved!!

Tom & Jerry - it was always on just after Lamb Chop on Sunday lunchtime just before I went to my riding lesson.
- By Montys Mum [gb] Date 28.04.03 14:53 UTC
Wasn't there also Topov the Monkey?? Always sitting up high?

Edited to say this was on Pipkins in case you all think I'm mad! :D
- By tanni [gb] Date 28.04.03 15:22 UTC

- By westie lover [gb] Date 30.04.03 05:05 UTC
My fave was Captain Pugwash and his doubtful crew: Semen Willie, Roger the Cabin Boy.......seemed so innocent when I was small!!!!!!!!! :-0
Anyone remember The Whirlybirds, Boots and saddles, Champion the Wonder Horse, My friend Flicka or am I just too ancient.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 30.04.03 07:40 UTC
I'm sad to see you've fallen for that story, too, Westie Lover :( Captain Pugwash never was suggestive - even the writer had never thought of that. 'Able Seaman' is a naval rank (so 'seaman Willie' is not 'rude'), and the cabin-boy was called Tom!

Apparently the fable that it was obscene was put about by spoil-sports who had never seen it while sober!
:)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 30.04.03 07:41 UTC
Loved My Friend Flicka ...in fact loved all and any horsey programmes

How about My Mother the Car?
My Favourite Martian?
Fireball XL5?
Tinger and Tucker?

Melody :)
- By gwen [gb] Date 30.04.03 08:15 UTC
Just found this thread - and agree about all the horsey programmes - remember the talking horse one was it called Uncle Ed? I remember the music from White Horses, but cant remember the programme at all! Went to the Dentist last Friday (lost a crown whilst biting off bits of a kit kat for Puglet:)) and he got on t e subject of the old puppet shows - fits of laughter through the whole appointment (which is hard when you are flat on your back with your mouth open) as he sang ALL the theme tunes to Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds, Joe 90, Stingray, Captain Scarlet, and a lot more. both laughing so much he broke the new crown he was trying to fit! The nurse though we were both demented, but she is at least 20 odd years younger than we were:) Still smiling, even though have another dental appointment to endure. (that was a very expensive Kit Kat:))
bye
Gwen

Picture Book was on Mondays
Andy Pandy on Tuesdays
Bill and Ben on Wednesdays
