Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Unentered Dogs Query

Has anyone used the unentered dogs tent facility at champ shows ? The one that is run by a pet charity called A1 I think, they take care of your dog and you leave a donation. I may have to use this facility if I go to Three Counties but I'm not sure about it. Would I be able to put my dog in a crate or would she have to be benched ? Any other info greatly appreciated.

Thanks! :-)

They are normally pretty good, they have someone in attendance all day and make sure the dogs are watered and if you request it walked.

So far as am aware you can crate your dog or bench them, but then I have only put the BT's in there and they are always crated.

I have never had any problems with any of the unentered tents anywhere.

I used the Three Counties non-entered tent 2 years ago for our Chelsea. There is benching and they actually prefer if you do have a crate for the dog rather than just benching. It makes the dog more secure - emotionally and physically. We had no trouble.

We've done this 3 or 4 times with different charities and no problems. It's nice to have an alternative when you've got a non-ped dog as well. I was quite upset to find Blackpool was not offering this.

Thank you Jayne & Wendy :-) Pleased to hear good reports. I'll no doubt be popping back every 30 mins to check on her but she's a confident 4½ year old weimaraner so she should be okay. I think I prefer the sound of this manned tent than I do having to bench her. :-)

Another query, how do I get her in and out of the show as I won't have a pass seeing as I'm not entering her ?

Hi,
All the 'unentered dogs' tents I've seen have been just outside the entrance to the show.
:)

They are usually just outside the entrance. At 3 Counties when I was there there were 2 entrances so it's a matter of finding out which one it's placed at.

The dogs actually do better if you don't pop back so often - they just get settled and then start worrying again. We usually check on Chelsea for potty breaks etc about 2 hours or so.

Thank you all again :-) Well I've sent my entry off today so all things well we will be going. :-)
