Hi all, I'm new to Champdogs - what a great site - I wish I'd found it before!
I need some advice about how to keep my dog's white beard white! He has a couple of places - one on each side of his mouth - where he has a brown stain. Sometimes it is worse than others and at the moment it looks quite horrible. Any ideas please?
This brown staining on your dog's mouth is most likely saliva stains. I've heard a good way to remove this is to bathe the area with a solution of bicarbonate of soda, and the mark will gradually fade. If you wipe his mouth after each meal it shouldn't recur so quickly.
Hope this helps. :)

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

Hi jeangenie, would the same solution to the mouth staining also work on urine stains and tearstains do you think?
Tear stains, probably, but be careful it doesn't go into the eyes. Ouch!
Urine stains, possibly - certainly worth a try because it won't do any harm. If you try it, let us know how it works. But it won't work overnight.

Thanks jeangenie, i think i'll try it especially on the urine stains, just wish my boy could learn to aim better and miss the back of his front legs (bless him) :D :D :D
I have seen with smnall breeds people using a bottl like you have for rabbgits to give the dog water, thereby reducing the amount of wet around the mouth. It would have to be one ot the large ones, and could be practial for crate travel.
