Hi
Does anyone know of a changed kc rule which now says that you can judge a dog that has been bred by yourself ? I was always under the impression that this was not allowed, however my friend says that she was talking to someone who said that this rule had been changed and intended to have a dog which she had bred come under her at a show ??
Does anyone know about this rule change ?
Also can you still get a stud book number 1st to 3rd in Limit ?
Thanks
Tracey

Hi Dizzy
Yeah that's what i thought on both questions, but this lady who is judging was adamant that the rule had changed ?? my friend argued the toss and said she thought it was cheating basically.
As for the stud book number it was also said that for gsd s only first place in limit ?
So I'm baffled.
See if anyone else can help out...charm where are you ?

have you got cc's on at all the champshows, if so youd be in the band where the first 3 placings count, -we havent got that many cc;s yet so only the cc winner and reserve i think get a stud book number

Dizzy
No we only have CC s at some, so not sure, it always used to be 1st to 3rd in Limit.
I was peed off though to hear that the rule had changed re judging your own breeding, I think it's ridiculous, you could give your own dog 3 cc s if you got regular ch show appointments..couldn't make it a champ but still 3 tickets..I can't believe that the kc would do this, but then again with them you never know. :)

Taking the pee alright, but it was the judge ( to be ) that my friend was talking to and said she would be judging a dog she had bred ?
Oh well praps someone will enlighten me as to this new rule or not new rule :)

Think we would have noticed the fall out in the dog press if it were true. Don't know about your breeds bands, so can't help there. Best way is to ask the KC and if the judge is wrong I would send a written complaint to the breed clubs, even a C list judge should know the rules as regards to their own breed.

I think the judge in question may be confused by some recent (ish) publicity about minor changes to (if I recall correctly) the wording about showing under substitute judges and referees (where 2 seperate judges award CCs to the 2 sexes)
I cant remember the exact problem the new wording was meant to clear up, but it certainly was not a big change, but did include about about being OK if that particular judge was your breeder (which was not a change, of course)
The bands were published in the dog press a few weeks ago - will have alook and see if I can find my copy and post the details.

HI
Thanks for all your replies.
Gwen do you mean if there was a change of judge and you had a dog bred by them entered you could still show it ?
Thanks

Hi Gwen
Thanks :) I can see that if there was a change of judge it can't be helped but can't believe that they'd let you do it with the original judge.

Hi everyone I think that its just first in limit to get stud book number and 1st to 3rd in open, BUT I am probably wrong
Janines

In my breed it is now just 1st and 2nd in Open and CC, RCC, JW and Sh CMwinners that get a stud book number.
Personally I had always thought it should have been 1st in Limit too, as these are the two hottest classes, and CC winners often come from Limit.

Hi,
These are last year's rules, so unless there is any change - GSD are Band D, so Stud Book Number for 1st-3rd in Open class and 1st only in Limit.
I would say the opposite to your friend - it used to be allowed to show dogs under their breeder, but the rule changed (approx. 15 years ago???) and it is now no longer permitted ......... not aware of any recent change, and as a previous poster said I'm sure we'd have noticed in the dog press.

Hi Tracey,
not heard of the rule being changed but stud book number is 1st in Limit and 1st and 2nd in Open plus CC & RCC as we're now in band C :-(

Hi NIXTEV
Thanks for your reply, I definitely think this lady has it wrong and she will know before the show :D

Just got the Bournemouth Ch Show schedule through and in the rules there it says a dog can be disqualified if the committee finds out it was bred by the judge except where the judge was an emergency change. So would say that proves the rule hasn't changed.

Hi Wendy (& Everyone) not got anywhere so far with the actual regulation change. Not posted on the KC web site anywhere, I rang and was promised a call back, so perhaps next week. However, girl on phone did confirm that the only change in recent years was purely to the wording of the regulation, not to its meaning, so you still cant show under breeder apart from emergency - which is what most of us have agreed on all along.
Whilst I am all in favour of the publication of rule changes, there are always one or two people who dont read what is actually being changed, and take it out of context;)

Hi Gwen and Wendy and everyone else :)
Wendy went to a champ show today and it said in the regulations in the schedule that any dog found to be bred by the judge would be disqualified so I think that well and truly sorts it . Thanks everyone, please let us know if yu ever get a reply from the kennel club Gwen :D :D

Hi Kelly
Yes this is fine as long as the judge has not personally bred your dog.
