
Sadly, yes they can have a huge reaction to the hormones, becoming broody, making nests, producing milk etc. If you are certain she isn't pregnant, tell the vet what's happening and offer her services as a foster mother. Otherwise give her raspberry leaf tablets, cut down her protein, take her for lots of long walks and generally jolly her along. Remove any soft toys she may have, and be aware that she may become attractive to other dogs.
It's a miserable time for her, so don't get cross, but don't let her wallow in it either.
