hi i was wondering if you had any advice on stopping our dog barking in the morning if we ignore him he barks even more but if someone goes down to him he knows that we will come.
The only idea i had was to get him a muzzle then when he barks we could put it on to shut him up.
There is another thing in the evening he sleeps all the time so we think he is not sleeping in the night because he spent the evening asleep. Is there anything you sugest tha we do to keep him occupied.
thanks
Kim

how old is your dog????
I dont know what others will say but I have to get up to mine at 6am as well. I just see it as part of having
If I give her a few minutes fuss and play and can then usually sneak back off to bed and she'll play happily by herself for a while
Could you try walking your dog later in the evening so he's awake later. Perhaps then he'll sleep longer during the night
Not sure a muzzle would be very fair, what about a bone or something to chew on instead

Has your dog started this recently ? Could be the lighter mornings - get some thick curtains/blinds. If you think that he is sleeping too much in the evenings, take him out for a good walk about 9-10 pm.

One of mine wakes at that time. Occasionaly she will last till 7. My husband opens the kitchen door and she dashes into the bedroom to see me. The other one follows at a slower pace. Bad habit but I let her lie on my bed till I'm ready to get up. She doesn't moult so I don't mind. If she's that happy to see me then I feel I should return the compliment. At least that way I don't have to get up so early. We have tried taking them out late at night but they are not interested. Hope you have better luck.

Mine get me up at 5 am give or take a few minutes. They are five months old. I put them out for a pee and then put them back in their beds and go back to bed for an hour. They sleep longer in the morning if we have been out ring craft training the night before. Pitty I can't go training every night!! Would not suggest a muzzle. Suggest you go down to him (assuming its an older dog and not a puppy) and bellow NO at him (and I mean bellow - let him know you are annoyed) it may work. I do find that they sleep longer if they are in a crate rather than loose in a room.
