my choc lab has been on this valerian based calming powder for about 6 weeks now and he is honestrly so much calmer he is like a new improved dog.Previously he would do a backflip off the doorstep at the start of a walk, now he waits qiute calmly for my instructions.you can get it from www.hyperdrug.co.uk/canine chemists.i have just ordered some more as we are scared of running out.

What does it do? What is it made of? How old is your lab? Are you sure that it's safe?

it's a homeopathic calming powder that seems to calm his hyper behaviour down.i'm not 100% sure anythings safe but it is from a reputable company that deals in pet products, and i wouldn't knowingly harm any of my dogs, they are my babies.

What age is the dog?
Hi Miloos,
Sounds like my dog could do with some of that! He is so boisterous he is a menace around other people at the moment when off lead - only trying to be friendly, but doesn't realise his own 24 kg strength! I was wondering, how did you hear about this canikalm? I note it's a sort of a veterinary site, so did your vet recommend it? Also, does it come in powder form or liquid? I have used products from Dorwest Herbs in the past and note in their catalogue they have a similar thing called Valerian Compound - 'acts quickly to calm and control hyperactivity and anxiety in dogs and cats. Use for those occasions when over the top behaviour is a problem.' So it's no doubt safe for use, but probably shouldn't be used all of the time, I don't know.

it's in powder form and is a valerian based compound.my vet says its ok, just the same as us taking b vits for bad nerves etc.it has really worked for milo, he's two in june and obviously still being a teenage terror but it has calmed him down a lot.if you go to www.hyperdrug.co.uk you can get it from there.good luck!!!
Hi Miloos,
I'll give it a go I think. Do you personally use it every day though? I'm just wondering whether it's for use in certain situations, like bonfire night, show days, etc.

Hi Milos,
Can you tell me which product you bought as I have looked on the site and there are about 3 different ones, and also how much did you order and what quantity did you give your dog.
Sorry about all the questions but there is not much info on the web site.
Sandie.
Hi Sandie,
There is only the one product listed on the site, which is Canikalm Herbal Calmer 100g priced at £3.98, but you're right, it doesn't really give much info on dosage - expect it will be on the actual container.
