My bitch finished her first season about a month ago. before she had her season my friend's entire male jack russell was very attracted to her. he then started acting perfect;y normal around her. Obviously they didn't meet during her season but the other day i tool them both for a walk and the male became obsessed with her trying to mate with her which she certainly wasn't impressed with. why is he sometimes attracted to her and not at other times? is it possible they could mate when she is not in season?

If your bitch finished her season a month ago I wouldn't think she would mate with the jack russell or any other dog. The poor wee jack russell is probably like most men - they don't think with their brain !!!!! Probably remembers the last time he got a whiff of her and found her to be very sexy and thinks she's still like that. He should get the message soon when his brain cells kick back in again. Until then he will think he's on a promise - the poor wee soul !

Might be worth giving your bitch a bath as the odour of a bitches season can linger, we do this for our bitch once her season is over.
All the best walkies

If males are still attracted to your bitch this long after her season has finished,I'd get her checked out by a vet.It could mean that she has some kind of infection.
Karen.
Thanks everyone. She has her booster jabs soon so i'll ask the vet to check her out.
