Hi - My 10 month old staffie was castrated yesterday, and everything seemed to go fine. I am just a bit concerned today as his balls look like they are still around so to speak!!! I dont really know what I expected the area to look like perhaps a scar and very little else (grin) but if anything, his balls look bigger!!! Is there any cause for concern or is this normal??? A very puzzled wendy...

There will be swelling and bruising, and usually the scrotum is left in situ, and will eventually shrink away to almost nothing. :)

Hi Wendy,

Made me laugh as I was in the same curious state in march with mine!

The area looked really tight and swollen, and I was sure they were
more there than before the op!!

But it will soon settle down, and as Jan said to almost nothing.

Hi there, well the area seems to have settled down a bit now. I am starting to believe he is balless. Its been really comical over the last couple of days with relatives and neighbours all checking out his swollen balls. Thanks for your advice, Wendy xx

Don't worry about his swollen scrotem, have you asked your vet about replacing the hormones he will have lost, at least until he is fully grown.

A friend had his Toller castrated recently and took the 'bits' into the college where he works for the students to dissect :D
