my dogue is now nearly 9 months old and hasn't come into season yet, but we are still checking everyday. The problem is she seems to be squatting as if to pass urine but nothings coming out. Could this be an infection or maybe something to do with her coming into season?

Most likely an infection.

If she is squatting a lot with nothing coming out, she might have cystitis - is there any straining at all or does she look uncomfortable? I would take her to the vet to check it out, because if she has got some infection she will need antibiotics.
