Hi,
I am hoping you can all give me some advice i have a 12 week old scottie, he will be able to go out in the big wide world next week go for gentle walks and out with the family for trips the problem is he just freezes when he's on the lead wont budge just sits there with these big sad eye's i have been leaving his lead on inside the house so he can get use to it also gived him lots of praise when he is on his lead also tried to coax him with treats but with no joy.
He is doing well with basic sit come and down commands house breaking is also a bit of a problem he goes out every hour we can be out for 20 mins the majority of the time and still doesnt relieve himself but will come inside and do it when we are outside i tell him toliet over and over.
All advice will be greatly appriecated Thank You

Hi Guest
Gus used to be the same when we first began going out . He is 6 months now and loves his walks . He used to sit down after just a few steps or he would sit down and not budge outside every gate we passed :)
as for toilet training - go into the top right hand corner and into search and enterr toilet training for a whole host of info.
It will come with time . pup is still very young .
With time you will get to know his habits and when he is likely to go just by his actions . Every time he goes outside praise him lots and maybe give him a treat . Always put him out first thing in the morning and again lots of praise !!! and then continue regularly throughout the day .

Hi Duke

Has he got any doggy friends that he could go with?

My yellow lab refused point blank to walk on a lead on his own as a puppy. All the coaxing in the world had absolutely no effect.

As soon as he could start going out properly I took him out with my others, and as they were "all mates together" he went along 'cause they did.

When he discovered it didn't hurt, wasn't frightening and could be fun he was just fine.

GOod luck
