Hi Jill
Have a look around for your nearest Training Club and take him along to ringcraft classes which will help both of you getting used to what is required when Showing. If he has a correct bite and two descended testicles then there isn't any reason why you can't Show him.

As well as Dessie's good tips, be sure to contact your breeder for help & advice too(assuming you bought your pup from an experienced show breeder). Your breeder should be able to help you every step of the way from advising you whether your Cocker is good enough to show to helping you with trimming & grooming tips.
Good luck!

First and foremost your dog must be Kennel Club registered. If so try and find training classes to learn the basics of handling a dog in the ring. No doubt you will find helpful people there who will point you in the right direction to limit and open shows in your area. A good idea would be to buy a book on the Cocker spaniel, make sure it's British, which will show you how to trim the dog ready for the ring. Lastly, the best of luck, and I hope you enjoy yourself.
