I want to lose a stone asap ...
have tried Slimmers World a while ago and it was ok but does anyone know any better ones ??
I dont really eat meat and I dont want a *faddy* diet so if anyone knows of an easy diet they have tried or have heard of then I would love some info
:D
Lel

I only know 2 ways to lose a stone quickly. Either have a litter of puppies and worry about who they'll be going to (works every time) or go "sur le Continent" and stay with my relatives. :(

Without going into a 'faddy diet ' then really the only one is weight watchers -if you stick to it it does work

Do you think your relatives would mind if I turn up on the doorstep ??? :)
Unfortunately Gus is still too young

The Atkins Diet is the best for losing weight quickly, no carbohydrates eg bread, pasta, rice but any amount of fat and protein eg meat (no good in your case) although meat substitutes are fine, cheese, butter, you have to watch what veg and fruit you eat too. I know loads of people that have lost a stone in a month, and it is apparently easy to maintain if you only have small amounts of carbs after the first month or two. Dr Atkins himself is 72 with a healthy heart - although he unfortunately fell on ice last week and has bad head injuries, so didn't help that!
Good luck
Hayley
PS I could never do it - not if it means giving up kettle chips (my only real vice, honest! :D)

I know someone who is on that diet No carbohydrates and she has lost alot of weight, plus she does alot of walking. She does cheat every now and then. She said it works great for her and her diabetes (sp).
Wishing u luck :)

Well......I have done Scottish Slimmers, Slimfast, Slimming World and Weight Watchers. :D The only one I would recommend as being the easiest is Weight Watchers. I found with Slimming World that the more exercise I did the more weight I put on :-(
I stopped going to WW 18mths ago and in that time I only put on 6.5lbs. I just rejoined as I have 10.5lbs to lose and it's easy :-) I lost 2.5lbs last week but I know the next few weeks will about about 1lb a week as my weight comes of slowly but the good thing is it stays off!! 30 minutes walking the dogs earns me 3 points, absolute doddle as I do more than this anyway and thats 3 glasses of wine!! BONUS :D
Good thing about WW is that there is absolutely nothing you can't eat, you just can't eat everything at once  :D
P.S. I eat very little meat also and it works fine for me :-)

I have been on Atkins for 3 weeks.
I lost 13lb in the first two weeks, and 2 lb this week, though this week I have cheated a bit as I had chips and bread...

The more exercise u do means u will build more muscle and muscle weighes more :)

I'm sure dog walking counts!!! :)
On a serious note, I make myself walk up the steepest hills briskly (although I do wonder what people walking at the top think when I can't even say Good Morning coherently!!!) and then allow myself the nice easy walk down the other side which would actually be an easier walk up.
Good luck

Hi Char
How did you find out about the Atkins Diet?????, would love to give it a try - tried all the rest no luck
please respond as soon as poss!
regards
carole
atkinscenter.com should have the info you need to decide whether you want to try it. But I think you would need to buy the book to actually do the diet as you would need to refer to it constantly to know what you are 'allowed' to eat
Good luck with whatever you choose!

I have been on the Atkins diet now for 2 years and its the best thing I ever done, after giving up smoking I put on over a stone and no matter what I tried I could not get it off, I tried Atkins and within a month I was back in my size 12 clothes and have never felt better, I sleep better, look better and have far more energy which is good with 5 springers.I could never go back to eating all those carbs.

Weight Watchers is the best steady weight loss and your not depriving your body of anything !!! Very important in dieting !!!
The Atkins Diet does help you shed weight quickly but there are quite a few side effects to it - headaches, lathargicness (Sp???) and some people can feel sick on it. And after a couple of weeks on it you will crave for Bread, Potatoes etc everything that you are not allowed to eat.

Currently on W/W
Dessie,
That made me smile! :D Try "lethargy". :D It's a lot shorter to type! :D :D

Hi, last year I wasn't well and had to change my diet - more for health reaons than to lose weight - but the weight fell off me: No sugar, no cheese, sparse with butter/marg, semi skimmed/skimmed milk. No more than 4 oz of fish or meat per meal with several different vegetables per meal. At least 4 peices of fruit per day. Large mixed salad at least every other day doused in olive oil - more or less the only oil/fats allowed. Cut down on wheat bread and potatoes and have rice several times a week instead. No processed food (sausages-pizza- burgers etc) at all. Drink at least 1 litre and pref 2 a day of water. It was hard at first but once I started losing weight I didn't mind. I lost a stone and a half in 6 weeks. Good luck. One tip is to buy a lovely dress/whatever in the size you want to be and aim to get into it by a certain date. Good luck.

I havent actually changed dress sizes - its just that I am "heavy" for me . And they do feel snugger .
I have always been lucky with regards to being able to eat what I like without putting on weight . Over the last 12 months or so it seems I have to really watch what I eat - maybe its my age as it is supposed to be harder to shift as you get older ??? :( :(
And I'm getting lots moe exercise with pup - also with having kids I wanted something that is easy to stick to especially when preparing kids meals etc
Thanks everyone

Atkins diet gets my vote.
I have been on it for 8 weeks and although I havent lost as much as some(8lbs) I only have a stone to loose anyway. The less u have to loose the slower it is.However I feel much better,my asthma has improved,I get less spots my skin is smoother and not so dry.I sleep better and I have more energy.Plus I havent felt hungry once and haven't felt the need to cheat....seems that you don't get the cravings you get on most other diets

This weekend only I have chosen to go on the chocolate and more chocolate diet .
For those of you who do not know about this revolutionary new diet it involves cramming as much chocolate into your system as you possibly can . When you feel fit to bursting you then close your eyes and wish with all your might that you will put no weight on at all .
Also useful is crossing all fingers and toes while wishing and then throwing the bathroom scales out of the highest window until they smash and can never be used again . As an extra precaution do not look into any mirrors when getting undressed .
Will let you all know if it works :D

I tried that but substituted McDonald's for chocolate. It worked wonders! Within two weeks, I had no desire to look in another mirror ever again!
I'm sure if you eat chocolate and only chocolate you will actually be taking in less fat than if you eat real meals, eg my fave, roast dinners!!! The best are jaffa cakes and Frys Turkish Delight, realatively low in fat compared to others
Good luck with the new diet, when you write the book, let me know if you need anybody to test your theories :D
