We are looking to extend our family and would love a Cocker Spaniel Pup. My husband and I have both grown up with dogs and now we have a family of our own, the Cocker Spaniel seems an ideal companion. Can anyone help us find a reputable breeder? We would be interested in any combination of light colours, but need some advice on this. We live in Taunton, willing to travel. We can be contacted at

Hi Guest
What an excellent choice you have made :-) I have two Cocker Spaniel Dogs and am awaiting a third. They are wonderful friendly and very accomodating dogs and excellent family pets. You can see my two if you look at the link in my profile.
There are a number of good breeders listed on this website. Just click on Search which is to the left of your screen in the Master Menu. The click on Guided Search, then click on Gundog, then click on Cocker Spaniel and finally click on Breeders. Have a look through the list and see which one takes your fancy. Contact them either via e-mail or phone and get your name down on a list for when they next have puppies.
There are plenty of Cocker People that come on this site so they will be able to give you more advice.
Best wishes

Hi
Miss S Ellison is the Devon and Cornwall Cocker Spaniel CLub Secretary - 01844 881449 - I'm sure she'll be able to put you in contact with some breeders in your area.
What advice are you looking for on Light colours? Just out of interest, how old is your family? If your child/ren are very young it might be better to wait a little longer, if they are old enough to be able to handle a puppy safely, then they do make an ideal family dog, providing you can put the commitment into trimming and grooming. Talk to Mrs Ellison and the breeders she recommends, they'll give you lots of help.
Good luck.
