Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / when is the healthiest age

I have a yellow lab called Becks, she is now 1 and in the future we thought we would maybe let her have a litter, but we would like to know what is the best age to even think about letting our Becks breed we know she is too young just now and I have read that 2 is a suitable age. Any info I would appreciate.

Hi Shona the best age is around two she will also need to have her hips scored and her eyes tested before you breed from her your vet should be able to advise you about this!
may i suggest you talk to the breeder of your bitch they are often a great source of knowledge regarding the bloodlines that will complement your bitch
good luck
