I have recently been given a 4 year old Bullmastiff dog and know little about this breed. My last dog was a beautiful and well behaved pit bull. Can anyone give me any advice on temprement traits, feeding or any possible danger signs I should keep my eyes open for. The dog is around children-is this advisable?
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks
Ian

Ian if you have a four yr old that is not showing any signs of aggression then I dont thing you need worry.
However my advice is dont let young children alone with any dog as they need protecting from each other .
I am sure if he is not showing any signs of aggression he will be fine .
If he had done any wrong such as bite then I assure you it would not escape anyones notice, A bite from any breed will be nasty so a giant breed bite will be even more so
so I am sure he would not be with you if he had bitten or attacked anyone.
You may feed him the same way you fed your pit bull just a bit more . I usually give a small breakfast and a good full dish in the evening . and keep a look out for the same signs you would have looked for in your pit bull re any change in his temperament towards people.
Bullmastiff is a kind breed and have a good name with children
But there has been the exception to the rule so as always just be be carefull ,
