Exemption shows are now (usually) called Companion Dog Shows ...you don't have to fill out an entry form before hand , just turn up on the day . They usually have classes for Pedigree and non Pedigree dogs.
Open Shows you Do have to enter before hand ..they cost a little bit more and have varying numbers of breed classes ..some have more than others. A win in an Open Show is counted for other classes in future shows
Champ Shows are also entered in advance (usually well in advance) and there are Challenge Certificates available (cc's) for the breeds that have them ..these also have breed classes and groups. Champ Shows can cost quite a bit compared to the other two
Some shows are benched - which just means you have an alloted space ON a bench for your dog ..some are unbenched ..you just park your butt where you can :D
Thats a really basic over view ..Im sure someone will fill in the fine details in a mo for you ;)
Its often a good idea to try out a Companion Dog Show for a first time ..they are very friendly and easy ..just pop along and have a go :)
